A Proper Invitation
One of my new assistants is named Claire. Or Carol. Maybe Carey. I don't know.
She's new, she manages my socials, I believe, and she's cute, so she fits the pack. Beyond that, I don't really know her. And considering the rate at which I'm cycling through assistants lately, I might never get the chance.
My PA Tamsyn, however, has been by my side for a long time now. She's kind of become the sister I never had. Maybe she's only like that because I pay her. Hefty, I might add, but once you get to my level you stop concerning yourself with common matters like salaries, budgets and where the money actually comes from. Anyway, I enjoy her company. We talk. We laugh. We share things.
Like men. I go first, though. That's the rule.
Anyway, Claire. Or Carol. Tamsyn told me she'd met Haniak and had been handed an invitation for me. I may not know the names of all my assistants, but I do know Haniak. I mean, anyone who's spent a reasonable amount of time in clubs will know Haniak.
For a while, I actually thought Haniak was some sort of job title. A name people were given when they started managing events. Turns out Haniak is a team of one. She just gets around. A lot.
Not in the way I do.
Well, maybe she does. I don't know the woman that well.
What I do know is that she manages things for clubs, seems to know everyone and has a remarkable habit of appearing wherever something is happening. So when Tamsyn walked in carrying an invitation from her, I knew this was serious. And the invitation itself was very much on brand.
It checked all the boxes for a proper A-list celebrity invitation. Personal. Stylish. Appropriately flattering. Just the right amount of implied importance. I appreciate it when people acknowledge status. Mine, mostly.
So, of course, I went to Sojourn. It was opening night, after all, and by now you'll know how much I appreciate being specially invited to those. It's mutually beneficial, really. I get to discover somewhere new, and every opening night gets a little better when I walk through the door. Everybody wins.
And Sojourn really was fabulous.
The place looks gorgeous. Beautifully put together without feeling like they had simply thrown every expensive object they owned into the same room. Great music, fine drinks and, perhaps most importantly, a gathering of beautiful people who clearly knew they'd been invited somewhere worth dressing up for. Which is exactly what you want from an opening night.
I could describe the place in more detail and tell you about the atmosphere, the crowd, the music, who was there and possibly even what happened after my second drink. But that would require me to remember what happened after my second drink.
Besides, I brought my camera. And as usual, the pictures do the place far more justice than I ever could.
Well… almost.
