Accidental Fridays

I didn't really plan on going to VICE.

That's not to say I didn't want to. Of course I did. VICE is one of those places that's always a good idea. I simply had other plans. Plans, as it turned out, that had other ideas and when the evening suddenly opened up, I figured I might as well spend it somewhere that knows how to put on a show. So I did what any sensible person would do: I changed outfits.

Let's be honest, a change of plans is one of the best excuses to change clothes. If you know me at all, you know that's practically a hobby. Finding the right outfit is half the fun. Getting out of it later can be the other half, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. At that point I was still very much dressed and making my way toward the lights.

And VICE does lights better than almost anyone.

I've mentioned it before, but the place can make you feel like you're standing inside the music rather than merely listening to it. The beams sweep across the room, the walls pulse with the rhythm and every few seconds the entire club seems to reinvent itself. It's a dance floor that rewards you for looking up just as much as looking around.

What I expected to be a scheduled Friday turned into a completely different night and sometimes great nights aren't the ones you've planned for. They're the ones that happen because your original plans fell apart.

Let me show you.
