Beach, Please

I almost forgot to tell you about The Drip. In fact, if I hadn't come across the pictures, I probably would've forgotten about it completely.

This is, of course, entirely because of what happened this Monday.

No, I'm not going to tell you about that now. Some stories need a little time before they can be told without implicating too many people. I'll get back to you.

Anyway.

The Drip did their thing at the beach again, because apparently we have collectively decided that we're no longer going inside. I've told you before how there is literally no escaping pools and beaches these days. Every time I think I've finally put away the bikini, someone sends me a landmark involving sand, water and people wearing approximately twelve square centimetres of fabric.

By now, I feel like I can beach all of you off.

So, two things happened.

First, I once again forgot to hand someone my camera and ask them to take a picture of me. This is becoming a slightly disturbing habit. Usually my absence brings the overall beautification level of a photo set down considerably, but looking through these pictures, I have to admit the effect is less noticeable this time.

Annoying, really.

Because at The Drip, beauty convenes. I mean, look at them.

This is what people mean when they talk about beach bodies. We have them. We show them. We use them. Preferably while dancing, although dancing may have occasionally been interpreted rather generously.

Which brings me to the second thing.

Put the same crowd inside a club and everyone somewhat pretends to behave. We stand around looking impossibly cool, carefully dressed for an evening during which we absolutely did not spend forty-five minutes deciding between two nearly identical pairs of boots.

Then somebody adds sand most of our clothes disappear and there is skin. There are bodies. There were people getting considerably closer than required for ordinary conversation. There were probably drinks involved, or more, although I've learned not to investigate too carefully what people at these things are actually consuming.

These are my favourite moments anyway.
