Everything Went Wrong. FML.

For the last two weeks, my camera has decided that Saturdays are optional.

It’s one of those fancy ones. You know the type. They sold it to me as the latest, greatest thing money could buy and, despite not even being blonde, I completely fell for it. It really is a fantastic camera most of the time. Fast, ridiculously capable, and usually responsible for the pictures you see here every week. Except on Saturdays lately.

It freezes, stutters, crashes, and whenever I restart it, everything comes back looking like I accidentally smeared Vaseline all over the lens. If this isn’t your first visit here, you’ll know how much taking these pictures means to me, so saying this is mildly annoying would be the understatement of the month.

The timing couldn’t have been worse. I had a full schedule lined up. A quick visit here, a handshake there, some business in a back alley, and eventually a dancefloor somewhere else. As usual, my plans had other ideas.

The last show by the Amped Dance Crew was non-negotiable. I’d been to all of them because, first of all, they’re simply that good, and secondly, my dealer pretty much runs the whole thing. She seems to run half of our nightlife anyway, and I’d like to stay in her good graces.

Three usable pictures.
Three.

The afterparty wasn’t much easier. I showed up late after crashing home for fresh batteries. It’s always happens again when you’re already annoyed. I mostly lingered around the edges of the dancefloor, being my beautiful self, until I ran into Asok, one of the oldest friends I’ve had since returning to this crazy place.

He recently got married. It was a whole event. Naturally I asked how married life was treating him.
“I haven’t seen her for weeks.”

See? That’s exactly why nobody should get married. Stay mysterious. Keep us longing. It’s much healthier.

Eventually I had to leave because Nikky had promised something wild over at The Drip. Words like consent, adults, and nudity had been mentioned beforehand, which made me both curious and slightly itchy. Funny enough, my camera got curious too. Right when things were about to get interesting, it suddenly decided to behave itself and actually gave me some decent shots for a change.

So… enjoy.

By the time Sunday rolled around, I desperately needed some Doreen time. A girl can only wrestle with technology for so long before she starts questioning every life choice that led her here. I ended up at NEXUS VOID, which is quietly becoming a favorite place to spend Sunday evenings. Keep an eye on The List if you haven’t been yet.

I only took two pictures.

Sometimes two is enough.
Sometimes you stop while you’re ahead.

Have a wonderful week, lovelies.
