The Grid Competes

The Grid Games are back, and the grid collectively raises the bar.

I dropped into the opening ceremony expecting the usual mix of speeches and polite buildup, but it landed better than that. It was structured, clean, and moved at the right pace. The Amped Up Crew took the stage as part of the ceremony and brought the energy up properly, setting the tone before everything closed with a fireworks finale that actually felt like a starting signal instead of an afterthought.

The competitions started short after that, and with that came a different kind of presence. Less about being seen, more about performing. You could feel the focus in the way people moved, the way teams coordinated, the way small moments suddenly mattered. Timing, precision, execution. The kind of things that don’t happen by accident but are the result of preparation.

That’s what makes the Grid Games interesting. It’s not just the variety of events, from fast-paced races to more tactical setups, but the fact that people genuinely care about the outcome. For a space that often leans into effortless cool, this is effort on display, and it works.

The Games are running all weekend, so if you haven’t checked them out yet, there’s still time. Drop in, watch a few rounds, follow a team for a bit, or just take in the atmosphere as it unfolds.
