No One Stayed Clean

Hygiene is important. Especially when you live a life like mine, moving through different places, “meeting” different people, and occasionally finding yourself in situations where “dirty” is somewhat of a given. But, as my mother used to say: there’s a time to get dirty, and there’s a time to clean yourself up again.

The Continental decided to blur that line. They threw a pool party. And not the polite kind where people sip drinks at the edge and pretend they’re just there for the music. No. This was heat, bodies, steam, bass, and the type of energy that makes it very clear, very quickly, what people came for. There was no way I would not drop my little bar of soap and be honest; you would do the same.

Let’s not pretend otherwise. You don’t step into a packed, overheated pool surrounded by half-dressed strangers and expect restraint. You expect proximity. You expect friction. You expect that at some point, “accidental” stops being accidental.

So yes, I had doubts about the cleaning afterwards and asked about the shower situation beforehand, like a responsible adult trying to maintain some illusion of control. I was told they existed. I was not told how they would be used, which was something I had to learn… “the hard way.”

And somewhere between the music, the water, and the way everyone seemed just a little too comfortable being watched, things shifted from playful to… let’s call it unapologetically physical. The atmosphere where personal space becomes a suggestion and eye contact starts doing a lot of heavy lifting.

And me? I forgot to take a selfie. Again obviously. So you’ll just have to take my word for it when I say I looked exactly how the moment required. Slightly undone, fully aware, and absolutely contributing to the overall temperature, which wasn’t the only thing I felt rising around me.

I did take some photos of others, though. Not much, since the night got busy quickly, but enough to give you an idea of what it looked like when everyone collectively decided to stop pretending this was just a pool party.
