Vanity in a Sea of Envy
So help me God, this weekend started brutal. Don't worry, I won't try to cram this beautiful night into one post. Whatever happened at Sonance and The Drip I'll share with you later, because first I was needed at The Continental.
The place embarks on sinful celebrations every two weeks. I'm not entirely sure how they keep that going. You'd think that after fourteen weeks they'd have worked their way through all seven sins, which, honestly, is a rather slow tempo compared to the rate at which I usually manage them. Then again, my memory of certain sins is clouded by extensive practical experience, so I honestly don't care.
What I do miss, though, is a Vanity event.
I mean, I've heard the Devil himself call it his favourite sin, and on that particular matter I find myself very much agreeing with the fellow. Vanity is the pulse of life. It's what keeps me going. And really, how could it not be when you're as gorgeous as I am?
Praise me. Love me. Long for me. Indulge in me.
It's a small ask, isn't it?
Anyway, yesterday was Envy. That's one I'm less familiar with, mainly because I already have it all. What could any of you possibly have that I still need? Still, I do enjoy sinful behaviour and it certainly wouldn't be the first time someone surprised me with an act of depravity I ended up appreciating very much.
And with Envy came green. Obviously. That's what you all look like when you see me.
So I chose something appropriate to wear. Not too much, naturally. These are the Baths at The Continental, after all, and turning up overdressed would just be rude.
What I hadn't accounted for was that you all looked rather fabulous yourselves. You really came through. Green everywhere, bodies everywhere, temptation everywhere, and suddenly I found myself surrounded by people making a really convincing case for having something worth envying. So yes, I grabbed my camera.
Maybe that's how we defeated Envy yesterday. Instead of wanting what somebody else had, we simply shared in all that splendour together. Or perhaps that's just Vanity speaking.
I wouldn't know, but she's always been my favourite.
