Almost Too Much

I was not prepared for this.

I don't know if it was the aftermath of everything that happened this week, the anticipation of what's coming next weekend, or simply the fact that I haven't had enough sex lately. Yes, you heard me. Apparently, even I have my limits, and yesterday at the Boiler Room, I came dangerously close to reaching them.

Now, I told you I was preparing myself for Toni. He was making his debut in that wonderfully overheated basement, and having known him for a while, I was pretty sure he'd deliver. And oh, did he deliver.

You see, I have a real appreciation for DJs who actually put some effort into their sets. Not the ones whose idea of preparation consists of holding up their phone in an elevator, Shazaming whatever happens to be playing and putting it in their Spotify playlist. No, I mean the ones who really get into it. Who dig around for those tracks, find the perfect combinations, blend them, mix them, build the tension, push us further and further, and then leave us practically begging for more when it's over.

You know. Like sex.
I like that.

Toni does that. And he was bloody fantastic.

So there was that.

And then there was everyone else. And I do mean everyone. The Boiler Room was absolutely packed, which, as you probably know by now, is exactly how I like it. I love a good grind, enjoy a grope, appreciate a rub, and when you're all squeezed together in a room like that, there's really not much else you can do.

Not that I was complaining.

Then, of course, there were the drugs, which lately seem to be distributed in a rather remarkable state of perfect harmony. I can only assume the various disputes have finally been settled. Perhaps a few people took an unfortunate dive into some concrete. I don't know. I don't ask questions. But whatever happened, everyone seems to be getting along beautifully now. And isn't that lovely?

And then there were the looks.

Oh, the looks. I absolutely adore being surrounded by gorgeous people. Not just because I enjoy looking at them, although obviously I do, but because I adore a room full of people who have made an effort. We elevate each other. Beauty encourages beauty, confidence feeds confidence, and before you know it, the entire room is operating at an altitude normally reserved for me.

And believe me, that Boiler Room went sky-high.

We're a pretty gorgeous bunch, aren't we?

So there I was. Incredible music, beautiful people, bodies pressed against bodies, everyone having a fabulous time, and an amount of substances circulating to make a pharmaceutical company reconsider its business model.

And somehow, it all became almost too much.

I still can't quite put my finger on what got to me. Perhaps it was the chaos of everything coming together in exactly the right place at exactly the right moment. Perhaps it was the music. Perhaps it was the people. Perhaps I really do need to have more sex.

I'm not exactly an Eat, Pray, Love girl. If anything, I'd probably skip straight to the last part and make a few adjustments. But that energy, whatever you want to call it, was absolutely palpable. You could feel it everywhere, moving through the room, through the music, through everyone around you.

And I nearly lost it right there on that dance floor. Which, considering my recent history of bringing down helicopters, might have caused some concern. Fortunately, Mako opened the baths afterwards, offering some much-needed rest and relaxation. And for once, I was genuinely grateful for the opportunity to lie down.

Although, knowing me, that probably wasn't going to last very long.
