Calm Down, Elytis
There's a couple of things I need for a night to really leave a mark.
It always starts with the people. First and foremost. Quickly followed by how the place looks, and then, of course, the music. Get those three right and you've got me. Stigmata has had a couple of events now, and every time they seem to be making the sort of improvements that push it a little further in that direction. If only they'd do in the first half what they do in the second.
I'd forgotten about that yesterday. Then Elay started her set and someone apparently found the switch. Lights. Dancers. The whole place suddenly came alive, and Elay just brought it.
I mean, she delivered.
And you know me. I regularly have my highs. I've been brought to impressive heights by various people over the years. But what Elay did came dangerously close to making me ejaculate right there on that dancefloor.
I mean...
Well.
Calm down, Elytis. Tell the good people about something else as well.
Right.
There was a pigeon. It spoke.
Bryn was dispensing therapeutic advice. The sessions were brief and apparently came at a cost, but Cole seemed happy with the treatment. He left rather quickly afterwards, so I'm going to assume he was cured.
Then there was Lu, who at some point mysteriously multiplied into a Billie. I didn't ask questions. By then we'd already established that the pigeon could talk, so frankly my threshold for unusual events had shifted considerably.
And I took what I remember being a great picture of MiMo dancing. Except I didn't. I framed it. I watched the moment happen. I remember thinking how good it looked. I just forgot to press the right fucking button.
This still bugs me.
So yes. Lights, dancers, some therapy, spontaneous multiplication, a talking pigeon, one photograph that exists only in my memory and Elay very nearly causing an incident on the dancefloor.
Apart from that, it was just an epic night.
