Femme Power
Last Friday, Sonance did an event called Ultraviolence.
Now, considering I’d only just made my way back into the region after spending some time trying to get away from exactly that sort of thing, you’d think an evening further advertised with harnesses and chains might not have been the most sensible place for me to go.
But you know me. Good judgement has always been one of my more underdeveloped qualities. Luckily, I compensate with a considerable number of excellent ones. Mostly physical.
And oral.
So off to Sonance I went.
I don’t know if we exactly ruled the floor that night, but the beats were certainly being dictated by a great woman. Aurora was relentless. Pure femme power, pounding through the room and hitting us right at the core, which naturally resulted in many of the wrong things happening at precisely the same time. Or the right things. I’m losing track of the distinction.
But honestly, being beaten around by filthy beats while surrounded by people dressed in latex, leather, harnesses and chains... What am I even trying to explain to you? You already know how easily influenced I am. Give me a bassline, put something tight around my body and remove a few sensible inhibitions, and apparently we’re done here.
At least I wasn’t alone.
Looking around Sonance, it became increasingly obvious that Aurora had got to all of us. People got closer, bodies got warmer and standards slipped. Whatever good judgement might have entered the room with us, we did not leave with.
We all got a little carried away last Friday. Some of us perhaps more visibly than others.
See for yourself.
