This Weekend: Friendship Valley Music Fest
The Friendship Valley Music Fest is very much a tradition. Of the epic kind. This weekend marks its 11th edition, taking place Friday March 6 and Saturday March 7 at Ribeata, and if you’ve never been, it’s one of those gatherings that feels a little like a reunion and a discovery at the same time.
I spoke with tiptoe Kiyori-Kiko, one of the organizers, who told me the festival actually started years ago almost by accident. Someone found a big rock concert stage they liked. Someone else wanted to build a campground. Another person said they should throw a festival. Someone volunteered to put together a lineup.
And suddenly… they had a music festival.

Since then it’s become something they try to do at least once a year, sometimes even twice, bringing together performers and communities from across the grid. If you spend time around places like Valmoor, Elysion, Mother Road, Sonance, Frolic, Le Chateau, Oyasumi, NITE, Oxygen, Organica, and more, chances are you’ll recognize quite a few names on the lineup.
And that’s really the idea behind it.
As tiptoe put it, the goal has always been to connect as many communities as possible in one place. Hedonists from everywhere on the grid, familiar faces and new ones, all sharing the same stage and the same weekend.
It’s also very much a group effort. People step in from all sides to make it happen, from building and maintaining the festival grounds, to creating artwork and banners, producing retrospective films of earlier festivals, and coordinating the performers themselves. A lot of hands, a lot of enthusiasm, and a lot of friendship behind it.
The result is two days of music, starting Friday at 12PM SLT and running all the way through Saturday night, with a long lineup of DJs and performers rotating through the stage.
If the poster alone doesn’t convince you, the schedule below probably will. And if that still doesn’t do it, the atmosphere usually seals the deal.
Festivals in SL have a very specific vibe. People wander in, stay longer than they planned, run into someone they haven’t seen in months, make a new friend somewhere between two sets, and before you know it you’ve been there half the day.
Which is exactly the point.
So if you’re looking for somewhere to spend part of the weekend, this is a very good option.
