They Started Without Me. Rude.

I came in late yesterday and the party had already started without me. That's honestly something I can never wrap my head around. What do all these people do before I get there? What is there to celebrate? Where's the excitement? I'll never understand.

Anyway, I arrived fashionably late and immediately walked into the Boiler Room, where Phorbin was making his debut behind the decks. Not his first time as a DJ, of course, but his first set at Valmoor. I don't catch Phorbs all that often when he's DJing. The last time I remember was at Friendship Valley Music Festival, where he absolutely killed it, and yesterday's set was every bit as good.

Speaking of Friendship Valley Music Festival, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, fix that immediately. Check this out and this. The next edition is coming up on August 28 and 29, and it's a weekend you simply don't want to miss. If you're one of those organized people who actually owns a calendar and uses it, block those dates now. You'll thank me later.

"So Doreen, what else happened at the Boiler Room?" I hear literally nobody asking.

Honestly? Quite a lot and at the same time exactly what always happens. That's the magic of Thursdays, every week they give me exactly what I need: good music, familiar faces, a couple of decisions I might regret later or instantly and enough laughs to make Friday seem like a distant possibility.

The highlight, at least for me, was trying to free Tip's collar with nothing more than a safety pin. My rescue operation was an embarrassing failure. I have a feeling we're going to need a proper liberation front for the collared, the restrained, and everyone trapped behind those masks. But apparently yesterday wasn't the day the revolution began.

As always, I brought the camera, so if your memory of last night is a little... creatively edited, the pictures might help fill in the blanks.

And if you weren't there, well, you missed out.
Don't make the same mistake twice.
