Making Waves

Last summer went on for far too long and I told you repeatedly how desperate I was to finally get out of my pool attire and return to being the fashion icon you've all come to know and adore. Don't get me wrong. I look absolutely fabulous in a bikini. But there's only so much you can do with two tiny pieces of fabric, and I have an enormous wardrobe full of beautiful things that deserve to Be Seen.

Then, just when I thought I could finally start dressing properly again, Halloween happened.

And yes, we all looked spectacular. The costumes, the creativity, the blood, the bruises, the occasional missing limb. Wonderful stuff. But it wasn't exactly an opportunity to show off my usual impeccable taste in fashion. So you can imagine how happy I was when Halloween was finally over and I could get back to wearing actual clothes.

Which brings us to this weekend. And I can already hear you asking. "But Doreen, darling, if you're so happy to be wearing clothes again, why are you publishing yet another entire post featuring gorgeous people wearing practically nothing around a swimming pool?"

Well, my lovelies, because this is Poolapalooza.

And Poolapalooza is one of the highlights of whatever we're calling this never-ending parade of fabulous events that keeps being thrown at us. Behind it all is Mel. Melissa, if you're feeling formal. She's the one making waves at Poolapalooza. Quite literally, I imagine, although I haven't checked what she's been doing in the water.

I should though, come to think of it…

Anyway, somewhere between Halloween and Thanksgiving, while the rest of us are trying to remember what season we're supposed to be in, Mel decides that what we really need is to get back into our swimsuits, gather around a pool and spend a few hours being halfway, or fully naked together.

And then she makes it happen.

We've been to Poolapalooza before, of course, so we know what Mel can do and when she announces another one, we already know it's going to be good.

Once again, we had fabulous music, great people and a decent amount of exposed skin. And naturally, I took photographs. Lots of them. So please, enjoy yourselves. Admire the gorgeous people, the skimpy outfits and the shameless behaviour.

But here's the really wonderful part.

Poolapalooza isn't over yet. It's a two-day event, and the second day is happening today. Yes, today. Another great time by the pool, another fabulous crowd, and another lineup of DJs.

Who's playing? Well, that's a surprise.

Although I've heard rumours and as everyone with a little insider information knows, the best way to make people believe you know something they don't, is to tell them you've heard rumours. So I have, and they're very promising. Which means there's really no excuse for staying home. Grab your bikinis, swimsuits, shorts, or whatever you enjoy wearing around a pool. If anything.

And join in for the second wave of Poolapalooza, today from 12 to 3 PM SLT. 💋
