Mostly on Mondays

So, there are moments when I behave like a normal person.

Moments when I'm not scraping the bottom of the barrel of nightlife. When I'm not coked out of my mind walking around with a white moustache, or being dragged into back alleys where people are screaming at us to keep the banging against the dumpsters down.

I have moments of sanity.
They usually happen on a Monday.

To me, Monday is a sacred day. It starts with that brief moment when I first wake up and have to assess what day it actually is. I lie there, staring at the ceiling, mentally retracing the last 72 hours and occasionally checking whether I'm alone. Then the realization sets in, “It's Monday….”

A wave of relief washes over me as I put my head back down on the pillow. Nothing is expected of me. I can relax. Have a smoothie. Maybe go to the gym. Drink water. Eat something containing vitamins. Live a healthy and respectable life, if only for today.

By the end of such a day, I want music that fits this temporary version of myself. Something decent, with nice people around me. No impending disaster. No decisions I'll have to explain later.

So it wasn't much of a surprise that this Monday I ended up at Little Mistake.

I love that name.
It's just so not me.

My mistakes are never little. They're big, tragic and recurring. They come with consequences, witnesses and, occasionally, photographic evidence. But on a day when everything seems almost normal, Little Mistake feels right.

Add Vogel laying down tracks that just feel right and you have me exactly where you want me.
Or rather, where my mother would've wanted me. On my best behaviour.

So don't assume I'm a constant force of chaos and crisis. I can be perfectly respectable. I can drink my smoothie, listen to good music, keep my clothes on and make decisions that don't require legal advice the following morning.

I do have my moments.
Mostly on Mondays.
