No Fear of Primary Colors
I think it's safe to say I'm properly back on my feet again. The lingering side effects of rehab are finally wearing off, my blood alcohol and substance levels have returned to what medical professionals would undoubtedly describe as "concerning" and I'm once again capable of providing any dancefloor with exactly what it has been missing.
Me.
The timing couldn't have been better either, because it coincided with another evening among friends. I had to miss the previous edition at Stigmata while I was locked away in rehab. Don't worry, it wasn't all straitjackets and padded walls. As far as I remember, the closest thing to being restrained was that ridiculously handsome night warden who seemed convinced I'd be safer in a chokehold. He enjoyed that arrangement and... well, you know me. I'm nothing if not cooperative.
Yesterday, Stigmata opened its doors once more, proving that your senses can, in fact, be heightened beyond their natural limits.
It helped that I wasn’t afraid to take a healthy dose of red, yellow and blue pills, but the real intoxicants were the two people behind the DJ booth. Alicedea kicked things off with the subtlety of a freight train. There was no warming up, no easing into the night. We hit the dancefloor running and she never gave us a chance to catch our breath. Then came Elay.
Now here's the part that surprised me. Elay is relatively new behind the decks. That's something you need to know beforehand, because if nobody had told you, you'd swear she'd been doing this for years. The confidence, the pacing, the track selection... it all clicked. Dropping bangers like it's 1942, people. The dancefloor certainly behaved like liberation had just been announced. If this is what "new" looks like, I'm curious to see where she'll be a year from now.
As for me? Rehab clearly failed. I'm back making living my best life, collecting photographs to prove it all happened and somehow waking up with a camera full of memories instead of regrets. I'd call that progress.
